The Golden State Warriors were locked on from the opening tip as they eased past the Dallas Mavericks 112-87 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Seven Warriors scored in double figures in the 25-point win.

The teams traded buckets to open the game but the efficient scoring of Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney, a combined 16 points on 7 of 8 shooting, helped the Warriors open a 10-point lead by the end of the first quarter.

Dallas closed to within two points in the second, but the Warriors began to hit their threes to end the quarter. So, despite a late 9-point flurry from Luka Doncic, which included back-to-back three pointers, Golden State led 54-45 at the half.

Dwight Powell scored the opening basket of the second half but that was followed by a10-0 Warriors run to all but end the game in the third quarter. Klay Thompson and Steph Curry combining for 20 points in the period, stretching the lead to 19 points.

Thompson and Jordan Poole continued to pile on the points to begin the fourth. The two combining for 8 points in the opening 3:30 to stretch the lead to 30.

The Mavericks looked to the three all game but finished a shocking 11/48 from deep, while the Warriors were an efficient 56.1% from the field.

Curry led the way for Golden State with 21/12/4, with Wiggins adding 19/5 and Klay dropping 15/4/5. Poole had 19 points off the bench. Doncic had just 20 points, with just 1 field goal in the second half, Spencer Dinwiddie added 17 points off the bench.

Dallas have lost the first game of every playoff series so far, so Coach Kidd has shown he can adapt his team but he’s going against a coach who has been there and done that in Steve Kerr.
