The Phoenix Suns eased to 110-80 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday to take a 3-2 lead in the series. Phoenix held Dallas to just 14 third quarter points, to stretch the game and ultimately seal the win.
The Mavericks started the better of the two teams with Luka Doncic hitting on his first three shot attempts, getting him on his way to 11 first quarter points. Dallas holding the lead after the first quarter for the first time on the road in this series.
The Suns looked shaken but got back to playing their game in the second quarter. A signature step back jumper from Chris Paul ensuring they went into the half with a three-point lead, 49-46.
Devin Booker traded buckets with Doncic and Jalen Brunson to begin the third quarter before the Suns showed why they held the best record in basketball. Over a 5:17 period Phoenix went on a 17-0 run. Booker (7 pts) & DeAndre Ayton (8 pts) combining for 15 of those points.
This run meant the Suns led by 22 points going into the final period and the game was won, however Phoenix still managed to extend their lead to 30. Torrey Craig knocking down a pair of threes in the closing minutes to help stretch the lead.
Booker finished with 28 points and 7 rebounds, with Ayton adding 20 points and 9 rebounds and Mikal Bridges 14 points. Doncic led the way for Dallas with 28 points and 11 boards, while Brunson had 21 points and 7 rebounds.
The Suns will look to finish off the Mavericks in Dallas on Thursday, with Game 6 @2:30am (GMT +1).
