Steph Curry has done just about everything there is to do in basketball but despite last night being his fourth Championship triumph, there was still a first for Curry on the night. Chef Curry finished with 34 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists to seal the title for Golden State and seal his first ever Finals MVP Award.
The Warriors did not make the best start to this series with Boston, but Curry made sure to show the world he was the best player in the Finals from the very first tip. The former two-time MVP was the lead scorer in 5 of the 6 Finals games, scoring 30 or more in four of the six.
His highlight performance came in Game 4. On the road and in danger of going down 3-1 in the series, Curry put the Warriors on his back and led them to victory. The 34-year-old scoring 43 points on 14/26 shooting, which he complimented with 10 rebounds and 4 assists. This game was the momentum shifter and Golden State did not look back afterwards.
Despite having one of the worst shooting nights of his career in Game 5, he was still able to contribute 16 points and 8 assists to help the Warriors to victory and finished with the second best +/- on the team.
The hard work had been done and Steph was ready to let loose in Game 6 and did just that, as the Warriors closed out the series in style on the back of another elite performance from Curry.
Curry averaged 31 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists & 2 steals, while making 31 three pointers on 48% shooting from the field, as he was the unanimous pick for the NBA Finals Bill Russell MVP Award.
A 4th ring brings Curry level with both LeBron James & Shaquille O’Neal, and it would take a very brave person to bet against Steph exceeding them before his career is finished!
