For the second consecutive season, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic is the Most Valuable Player in the National Basketball Association.

‘The Joker’ averaged 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.9 blocks per game, while shooting 58.3% from the field. Improving in nearly all categories compared to his previous MVP season in 2020/21.

Jokic beat out the 2021/22 NBA scoring champion Joel Embiid and former two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to claim the award for a second straight year, joining the likes of LeBron James (twice), Steph Curry, Michael Jordan & Kareem Abdul Jabbar (twice).

The 27-year-old led the league with 19 triple doubles, while becoming the first player in league history to record at least 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in a single season.

Denver was without stars Jamal Murray & Michael Porter Jr for nearly the entire season, so Jokic had to carry the team night in, night out. His form helping the Nuggets to place in the West with a record of 48-34.

Jokic is eligible to sign a 5yr/$254 million contract in the off-season. And the Nuggets front office know the importance of tying Nikola down long term, as he looks to become the first player since Larry Bird in 1986 to win three straight NBA MVP’s.
