LeBron James seems to break a record every time he steps on the court these days, but this is another level. During Sunday’s game with the Phoenix Suns LeBron surpassed 10,000 career assists. In the process he became the first ever player to surpass 10,000 points, rebounds, and assists.
James’ current totals read 36,824 points, 10,150 rebounds and 10,004 assists and few have even come close to this astonishing achievement, the only black spot for ‘the King’ is that this feat came in yet another loss for the Lakers.
The Suns ran out comfortable 140-111 winners on the night, as they had seven different players score in double digits. Devin Booker (30 points, 10 assists) & DeAndre Ayton (23 points, 16 rebounds) leading the way for last years NBA Finalists.
James contributed 31 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the defeat achieving the feat of 10,000 assists with a dime to long-time friend Carmelo Anthony, who knocked down a treble.
A great night for LeBron individually but another loss, in what’s been a terrible year for the Los Angeles Lakers, leaves the team in a battle to qualify for the play-in tournament in the Western Conference.
The Lakers (29-38) currently sit 9 in the West just 1.5 games above the New Orleans Pelicans in 10 & 2.5 games above the Portland Trail Blazers in 11, with 15 games remaining in the regular season. While the Suns (54-14) sit comfortable atop the Western Conference and look set to have the best record in basketball come the end of the season.
