The Brooklyn Nets have given Kyrie Irving permission to find a sign & trade partner, sources have confirmed to The Athletic.
Reports last week claimed that talks over an extension between Irving & Brooklyn had stagnated and he was beginning to think about his future with the team. He has until Wednesday to pick up his $36.9 million player option for the 2022/23 season.
This move would see Irving play for his fourth NBA team after the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics & Brooklyn. He has been an All-Star with each team and will command a sizeable package.
At this moment the Los Angeles Lakers are the only team that want to pursue Kyrie but the Nets are currently not interested in any packages they have to offer. Likely meaning either a third team enters negotiations or the Lakers wont be getting their new star.
