The Boston Celtics outscored the Golden State Warriors 40-16 in the 4 quarter of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, giving the road team an impressive 120-108 victory. Boston shot 51% from the field as a team, as well as 51% from three on a huge night for the 17x champions.

Golden State started the better with Steph Curry looking primed to take the game away from Boston all by himself. The 34-year-old finished the first quarter with 21 points, making six 3 pointers in the quarter to set a finals record.

The Celtics bounced back in the second quarter; their great shooting coupled with better defence gave the visitors a 56-54 lead at the break.

In a back and forth battle the momentum swung back towards GSW out of the break, Curry & Andrew Wiggins combining for 21 points in the third to help the Warriors establish a game high, 12-point lead going into the final period.

This Celtics unit would not roll over however, with Jaylen Brown taking over in the early minutes of the fourth quarter to get Boston back in the game. Brown scored or assisted on the Celtics first 14 points in the final quarter to close the gap to just three points.

Back-to-back three pointers from Derrick White levelled the score before three straight buckets from Al Horford gave Boston an eight-point lead with 3:40 to go, as they closed out the game with relative ease. A 17-0 run in the 4 sealing victory.

Horford led the way for Boston with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists, with Brown adding 24/7/5/2/1 and White dropping 21 points off the bench. Curry led the way for GSW with 34/5/5, while Wiggins added 20 points and 5 rebounds.
