Kevin Durant's future has been the hot topic of the NBA off-season after he requested a trade on the eve of NBA free agency but after weeks of muted news, things are beginning to heat up once again.
According to Shams Charania of the Athletic, the Boston Celtics have offered a package of 1x All-Star Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and one first round draft pick for KD, which Brooklyn has rejected but they have sent a counter offer. A package including Brown, DPOY Marcus Smart, multiple first round picks and possibly another rotation player.
At this moment the Celtics are not willing to offer both Brown & Smart in any deal but they are mulling over the next steps and still remain as a serious contender to make an offer that will suffice the Nets overwhelming asking price.
Boston are coming off the back of a trip to the NBA Finals, and view Durant, who has won two NBA Finals MVP's, as a potential final piece to get them over the line next season and beyond.
Durant is one of the best players in the NBA, having averaged 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists last season on near 50/40/90 shooting efficiency (51.8%, 38.3% & 91%).
The big question for Boston now is where do they draw the line in pursuit of Durant & glory?
