On June 30th, Kevin Durant set the trade market on fire when he announced that he wanted out of Brooklyn. However following a meeting in Los Angeles on Monday between Durant, his business manager Rich Kleiman, Nets GM Sean Marks, coach Steve Nash and owners Joe Tsai & Clara Wu Tsai, the team has agreed to move forward with their partnership, per Sean Marks and Brooklyn.

Few will be surprised to see this outcome, given the quoted price Brooklyn were expecting for Kevin Durant, who is under contract for another four years, along with being one of the best players in the entire NBA.

It was reported this month that Durant had met with Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai and reaffirmed his desire to leave unless Tsai fired head coach Steve Nash & General Manager Sean Marks. Tsai immediately quashed rumors that he would give in to Durant's demands. But Nash will certainly be under pressure to deliver from the first tip of the new season.

The Nets brought Durant and Kyrie Irving to Brooklyn to win a championship and so far they have not got past the 2nd round of the playoffs, with injuries and other off courts issues a big problem. However, they will be expecting 2022/23 to be their best season since beginning to build their super team in 2019. With Kyrie Irving likely to be available for the entire season, and the addition of Ben Simmons.

Major success this season will be even harder to come by however, with the Eastern Conference appearing to be at it's strongest point in the past decade.

Brooklyn was swept by eventual NBA Finalist's, the Boston Celtics, in the first round of the playoffs in 2022, they looked like a team out of sorts and out of ideas, with Kevin Durant looking like a player past his best.

The goal is still a championship for Brooklyn and anything less will be seen as a failure, they've got the most important piece of the puzzle by convincing Durant to stay but big decisions and clever trade/free agency moves will still be needed to make this Brooklyn team a competitor.
